The stadium is home to the Geelong Football Club and acts as host to other professional sporting codes including the A-League Football, Australian Rugby Union, National Rugby League, Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia. The new sports lighting scheme is required to achieve the broadcast requirements for AFL and will enhance Kardinia Park Stadium’s status as a leading sports and events venue in Victoria.
Key objectives were to upgrade four light towers and infill lighting to LED to improve safety, security, electrical infrastructure, and patron experience at the stadium. The overall project procurement was broken into two streams being electrical services and installation and luminaire supply (and lighting design). Overall, the scope saw the changeover of approximately 460 individual light fittings (115 in each tower) and 120 grandstand infill lights.
